SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) invites South African students to apply for Bursary Programme 2024

The SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) is offering a bursary programme for the 2024 academic year to students residing in specific beneficiary communities in the Northern Cape and Limpopo provinces. Here are the details:

Eligible Fields of Study:

The bursary covers studies in all fields, with preferences in the following areas:

  • Agriculture
  • Business Management and Economics
  • Education
  • Engineering and Science
  • Health and Clinical-related Sciences
  • Information Technology
  • Law
  • Tourism

Other fields of study are also eligible, but preference will be given to the listed fields.

Covered Expenses & Selection Process:

The bursary covers various expenses, including registration and tuition fees, accommodation, study materials, a laptop, and a monthly stipend. Additionally, students with disabilities will receive assistive devices for learning.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. Applicants who haven’t received feedback by 6 February 2024 should consider their applications unsuccessful.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must meet specific criteria to be considered for the bursary:

  • South African citizenship
  • Age below 35 at the closing date
  • Residency or origin from beneficiary areas in specified municipalities
  • Currently in Matric (in 2023) or completed Matric
  • Pursuing or intending to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in listed fields
  • Minimum 65% overall average in recent academic results
  • Acceptance to a recognized South African public institution for 2024
  • Financial need (household income below R600,000 per year)
  • Preference for students with disabilities
  • Undergraduate students are given preference

Application Process:

Applications can be submitted online through the SIOC-CDT Bursary Application 2024 portal or by downloading and completing the application form. Hard copy applications must be posted or hand-delivered to specified locations.

Required Documentation:

Submit clear copies of the following documents with the application:

  • Certified ID document (not older than 3 months)
  • Matric mid-year/preliminary results (if applicable)
  • Matric certificate (if completed)
  • Most recent tertiary academic results/transcripts (if currently studying)
  • Proof of acceptance/provisional acceptance to a public tertiary institution
  • Proof of household income for parents/guardians
  • Proof of residence
  • Medical note explaining the type of disability (if applicable)

Ensure all required documents are included and certified copies are not older than 3 months.
