UJ Admission Requirements / APS for Health Sciences​

Your admission to University of  Johannesburg (UJ) is dependent on you meeting the specific admission requirements / APS for your chosen qualification. If you don’t meet these requirements, you may want to consider alternative qualifications or possibly, if you qualify, an extended programme (refer to the college admission requirements), enabling you to register for limited modules in your first year.

Here are the UJ Admission Requirements for College of Health Sciences​:

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS WITH A NATIONAL CERTIFICATE (VOCATIONAL) (NCV)
For admission to a Degree (4 years) the applicant must have:
  • A NCV (level 4) issued by the Council for General and Further Education / and Training.
  • Achieved a minimum of 70% for 5 of the 7 subjects – fundamental and vocational categories.
  • Passed English as Language of Teaching and Learning / First Additional Language as fundamental component with a minimum of 70%.
  • Passed Mathematics and Physical Sciences as Fundamental Components with a minimum score of 70%. For admission to a BCom Degree and BA Degree (3 years) the applicant must have:
    • A NCV (level 4) issued by the Council for General and Further Education and Training.
    • Achieved a minimum of 60% for 6 of the 7 subjects – fundamental and vocational categories.
  • Passed English as Language of Teaching and Learning / First Additional Language as fundamental component with a minimum of 70%.
  • Passed Mathematics and Physical Sciences as Fundamental Components with a minimum score of 60%. For admission to a National Diploma (3 years) the applicant must have:
    • A NCV (level 4) issued by the Council for General and Further Education and Training.
    • An achievement of at least 60% for 5 of the 7 subjects – fundamental and vocational categories.
    • An achievement of at least 60% in English as Language of Teaching and Learning / First Additional Language.
    • An achievement of at least 60% in Mathematics or 70% in Mathematics Literacy – taken as fundamental subjects.
