The Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) is offering Bursary Programme for the Financial year 2017. The LGSETA will only fund a course which falls within the scarce and critical skills areas in Local Government.

|According to Chapter 14 – Schedule 4B of the South African Constitution, the general provisions of local government are as follows:|
|Child care facilities|
|Electricity and gas reticulation|
|Municipal health services|
|Municipal public transport|
|Municipal public works only in respect of the needs of municipalities in the discharge of their responsibilities to administer functions specifically assigned to them under this Constitutional or any other law|
|Pontoons, ferries, jetties, piers and harbours, excluding the regulation of international and national shipping and matters related thereto|
|Storm water management systems in built-up areas|
|Water and sanitation services limited to potable water supply systems and domestic waste-water and sewage disposal systems|
Bursaries are available to new applicants and students who are interested in furthering their studies at any of the Public Universities, Universities of Technology and TVET Colleges in South Africa. The bursary will cover the cost of registration, tuition, books and residence fees for up to the maximum amount of R 50 000 per annum.
In making the final selection, first preference will be given to:
- Previously Disadvantaged Individuals
- People with Disabilities
- South African Citizens
- Unemployed youth
There is a limited number of bursaries available and should you not have received any correspondence from LGSETA within 30 days from the closing date, please consider that your application has been unsuccessful.
