Financial Internship Programme 2026 – Cape Agulhas Municipality
Cape Agulhas Municipality (CAM) has officially advertised three (3) Financial Internship vacancies under its Financial Services Department. This is a 2-year contract internship programme, funded by the National Treasury and implemented in line with National Treasury guidelines.
The programme is designed to provide structured in-service training to unemployed graduates who wish to build a career in municipal finance, auditing, risk management, and treasury functions.
Preference will be given to applicants residing within the Cape Agulhas Municipal area.

- A three-year Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma with majors in:
- Economics
- Accounting / Finance
- Internal Auditing
- Risk Management
Academic Subjects (Advantageous)
- Financial Accounting I, II, III
- Auditing I
- Mercantile Law I
- Economics I and Business Economics I
- Business Management I
- Local Government Management I
Skills and Competencies
- Fairly good written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy with practical experience
- Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
Key Functions and Responsibilities
Successful interns will be exposed to a wide range of municipal finance functions, including:
- General financial management in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), Act 56 of 2003
- Expenditure management and related financial activities
- Revenue and cash management
- Supply Chain Management processes
- Budgeting and treasury management
- Internal controls, auditing, and risk management
- Other finance-related duties within the municipal environment
This programme offers hands-on experience across the full municipal finance value chain.
