Durban Girls’ College invites applications for its 2026 Teacher Internship Programme, offering valuable hands-on teaching experience in both Junior Primary (JP) and Senior Primary (SP) phases.
Internship Application Closing Date: 20 June 2025
Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Start Date: 1 January 2026
Workload: Minimum 20 hours per week (includes co-curricular responsibilities)
Who Should Apply
Durban Girls’ College is looking for aspiring teachers who are:
- Currently studying towards a B.Ed. degree (preferably in their 3rd or 4th year)
- OR enrolled for a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- Energetic, motivated, and committed to contributing to a vibrant school community
- Aligned with the ethos and values of an independent Christian girls’ school
- Willing to participate in both academic and co-curricular responsibilities
- In possession of or in the process of obtaining a provisional SACE registration
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with teaching and classroom activities in the assigned phase (JP or SP)
- Participate in lesson planning, preparation, and classroom setup
- Support learners through one-on-one or group engagement
- Engage in school life through co-curricular activities
- Complete phase-specific responsibilities as allocated by mentors or department heads
