About the Learner Firefighter Role
Prince Albert Municipality has an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about public safety and emergency services. The Learner Firefighter role is a permanent post offering candidates the chance to contribute to community safety and gain critical experience in the Fire and Disaster Management Services division.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Valid Code B Driver’s Licence or Code C1
- CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test)
- Physically and mentally fit
- Medical Test (NFPA 1582)
- No criminal record
- Willing to work shifts, overtime, and on short notice
- Willing to work at any fire station or section within the municipality’s jurisdiction
- Firefighting 1 with First Aid
- Proficient communication skills in at least two of the three Western Cape official languages

Duties & Responsibilities
- Driving and operating firefighting and emergency vehicles
- Responding to fire and rescue emergencies
- Ensuring cleanliness and readiness of vehicles and equipment
- Compiling reports
- Maintaining records and admin duties
- Assisting with purchasing and material support
- Participating in training and physical development
Remuneration
- Post Level: T06 of a Category 1 municipality
- Salary Range: R155,086.20 – R201,319.92 per annum
- Benefits: Medical Aid, Pension, Housing Allowance (as per policy), and 13th Cheque
