About the Learner Firefighter Role

Prince Albert Municipality has an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about public safety and emergency services. The Learner Firefighter role is a permanent post offering candidates the chance to contribute to community safety and gain critical experience in the Fire and Disaster Management Services division.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Valid Code B Driverโ€™s Licence or Code C1
  • CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test)
  • Physically and mentally fit
  • Medical Test (NFPA 1582)
  • No criminal record
  • Willing to work shifts, overtime, and on short notice
  • Willing to work at any fire station or section within the municipalityโ€™s jurisdiction
  • Firefighting 1 with First Aid
  • Proficient communication skills in at least two of the three Western Cape official languages

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Driving and operating firefighting and emergency vehicles
  • Responding to fire and rescue emergencies
  • Ensuring cleanliness and readiness of vehicles and equipment
  • Compiling reports
  • Maintaining records and admin duties
  • Assisting with purchasing and material support
  • Participating in training and physical development

Remuneration

  • Post Level: T06 of a Category 1 municipality
  • Salary Range: R155,086.20 โ€“ R201,319.92 per annum
  • Benefits: Medical Aid, Pension, Housing Allowance (as per policy), and 13th Cheque
