Online Application Opening Date: Thursday, 24 July 2025
Closing Date: Friday, 29 August 2025
This 37-day window gives parents ample time to apply and upload all required documents to ensure successful placement at a school in Gauteng.
Important Notice: Register a New Profile for 2026
All applicants must create a new profile on the GDE Online Admissions Portal. Previous login credentials or profiles from past years will not be accepted. This measure ensures data accuracy for the 2026 intake.
How Gauteng School Admissions Work
The GDE Online Admissions System is designed to make school applications easier and more efficient. Here’s how the process works:
1. Online Application
Visit the official admissions portal to apply:
https://gdeadmissions.gov.za
2. Registration
Create a new parent/guardian account by entering your personal information.
3. Address and Learner Information
Provide your home and/or work address and complete all required learner details, such as full name, date of birth, and current grade.
4. Choose Preferred Schools
Select up to five schools, prioritising those closest to your home or work to increase placement chances.
5. Upload Required Documents
All supporting documents must be uploaded online within the given time frame. Late applications may allow for direct submissions to schools if announced.

Prepare the following documents before applying:
- Parent/Guardian’s ID or passport
- Child’s birth certificate or passport
- Proof of home address (e.g., utility bill, lease agreement)
- Proof of work address (if applying based on proximity to workplace)
- Latest Grade 7 report (Grade 8 applications only)
- Immunisation card (Grade 1 applications only)
