About the Internship
This internship provides a unique opportunity to be immersed in dairy product processing, farmer training, and agricultural value addition. Interns will assist in the development and demonstration of dairy products like cheese, amasi, and yoghurt, while contributing to nationwide training of smallholder farmers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with training workshops for smallholder dairy farmers and processors
- Support practical dairy processing demonstrations (cheese, amasi, yoghurt, etc.)
- Collect, record, and analyse data on training outcomes and milk production
- Write technical and field reports, including summaries and recommendations
- Assist in preparing training materials and logistics for provincial activities
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma in Food Technology or a related field
- Strong interest or knowledge of dairy processing and food safety standards (R638, SANS 10330, ISO 22000)
- Willingness to travel extensively and work in rural and peri-urban communities
- Strong communication skills and comfort in engaging diverse farming communities
- Proficiency in report writing and field data collection
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn
- A valid driver’s license is advantageous
