Capitec is inviting South African students to apply for its external bursary programme for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries are available for Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) and Honours studies at NQF Level 7 or higher, in the following fields:
- Actuarial Science
- Computer Science
- Digital Marketing
- Economics
- Finance
- Information Systems
- Information Technology
- Mathematics
- Quantitative Management
- Statistics
What the Bursary Covers
The Capitec bursary provides comprehensive financial support, including:
- Registration and tuition fees
- Textbooks and study materials
- Accommodation
- Monthly stipends
Bursaries are awarded for 1 year and may be renewed annually based on academic performance, student engagement, and budget availability.
Work-Back Obligation
After graduation, bursary recipients will be required to work for Capitec for the same duration as the funding received. This ensures graduates gain valuable workplace readiness skills and real-world exposure.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be in Matric (2025) or have completed Matric
- Must be studying/ intend to study full-time towards a Bachelor’s Degree or Honours (NQF 7 or higher)
- Must be registered at a DHET/ CHE recognised tertiary institution (universities, private colleges).
- NOT covered: N4/5/6, Higher Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Master’s, Doctoral, UNISA, TVET, or community colleges.
- Must have achieved a Bachelor’s Pass with at least 65% average in Matric
- If currently studying, must have at least 65% average in 2024 and 2025 so far
- Preference will be given to:
- Students completing qualifications in the minimum time (no N+1 or longer)
- Students meeting employment equity and transformation goals
Required Documents
When applying, ensure you submit certified copies of:
- ID document
- Matric results (if in Matric, Grade 11 report and latest Term 2 Grade 12 report)
- Academic transcripts (if at university)
- 2025 fee statement
- Proof of accommodation (lease agreement, if applicable)
- Parents/guardians’ ID copies and proof of income (or affidavits if unemployed)
- Proof of NSFAS/other bursary funding (if applicable)
- EEA1 Form and doctor’s diagnosis letter (if disabled)
- Consent form signed by parent/guardian if under 18
