About the AGSA Bursary Provider
The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA), established in 1911, is the supreme audit institution of South Africa, responsible for auditing and reporting on government expenditure. AGSA collaborates with professional bodies such as SAICA, ACCA, SAIGA, ISACA, and INTOSAI. The institution also supports transformation and B-BBEE objectives in South Africa.
Fields Covered by the AGSA Bursary
The bursary is available for Chartered Accountancy studies in the following qualifications:
- BCom Accounting (CA stream)
- Bachelor of Accounting (CA stream)
- BCompt
Bursary Coverage Value & Service Contract
The AGSA bursary covers:
- Tuition fees
- University accommodation
- Meals
- Books
After graduation, recipients will be required to complete training or articles with AGSA.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be currently in Matric (Grade 12) or have completed Matric
- Must be studying or intending to study full-time towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification at a SAICA-accredited university
Academic Requirements by Study Level
- Matric (applying for 1st year in 2026):
- Matric exemption with university entrance
- Minimum 60% in Mathematics (NOT Maths Literacy)
- Minimum 60% in English
- 1st Year Students (applying for 2nd year in 2026):
- Minimum 60% in Financial Accounting
- Minimum 60% in Matric Mathematics & English
- 2nd Year Students (applying for 3rd year in 2026):
- Minimum 60% in Financial Accounting & Management Accounting
- Final Year Students (postgraduate in 2026):
- Minimum 55% in all core modules
- Must have CTA acceptance
