Apprenticeship Learnership Programme 2026 – Columbus Stainless (Middelburg)

Columbus Stainless, one of South Africa’s leading stainless steel producers, has officially opened applications for its Apprenticeship Learnership Programme based in Middelburg. This programme is designed to train and develop young South Africans into skilled artisans within plant and equipment maintenance, ensuring a strong pipeline of technical talent.

The learnership offers long-term career development through structured training, practical exposure, and on-the-job learning in a world-class industrial environment.

Preference will be given to candidates residing within the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality.


Purpose of the Apprenticeship Learnership

The purpose of this Apprenticeship Learnership is to develop technically skilled individuals who are interested in equipment and plant maintenance. Successful learners will be trained to support Columbus Stainless’ operations while building a sustainable and in-demand artisan career.

No extensive work experience is required—what matters most is technical aptitude, commitment, and willingness to learn.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet all the following requirements:

Academic Requirements

You must have one of the following:

  • N3 or Matric with Mathematics and Science (minimum 40% for each subject),
    OR
  • NCV Level 4 with 7 subjects, including Mathematics and Science (minimum 40% for each)

Additional Requirements

  • Practical and logical mindset
  • Strong interest in equipment and plant maintenance
  • Medically fit
  • South African citizen
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime, when required
  • Preference will be given to applicants residing in the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality
