The Northern Cape Rural TVET College (NCR TVET College) invites applications from suitably qualified persons for appointment to the ICT Intern (CP) position. This is a full-time temporary internship aimed at providing practical workplace experience while supporting the stability and performance of the College’s ICT infrastructure.

Internship details

The successful candidate will provide technical support across hardware, software, and network environments to ensure the reliability of the College’s IT systems.
Minimum requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Fully certified CompTIA A+ or equivalent
- Fully certified CompTIA Network+ or equivalent
- Fully certified CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Added advantages and recommendations
The following will be considered an advantage:
- Knowledge of LANs, WANs, and Wi-Fi technologies
- Understanding of IT security principles, including firewalls and antivirus software
- Knowledge of server administration (Windows Server, Active Directory)
- Knowledge of database management systems and data backup procedures
- Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) principles
- An additional NQF Level 6 qualification in ICT

Key result areas
The ICT Intern will be responsible for:
- Technical support: Daily user support for hardware, software, and network issues
- Installation & maintenance: Assisting with installation, configuration, and upgrading of ICT equipment
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software problems
- System updates & security: Assisting with patches, updates, virus protection, and monitoring security threats
- Documentation & reporting: Maintaining IT documentation, logs, and assisting with reports
- Network support: Supporting network monitoring, backups, and system stability
- Project assistance: Participating in IT projects such as system migrations
- Equipment upkeep: Ensuring ICT equipment is functional and assisting with inventory management
