About the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS)
SANAS is South Africa’s national accreditation body, responsible for carrying out accreditation in respect of conformity assessment, calibration, testing and certification. Through its External Bursary Programme, SANAS invests in education as a means to strengthen skills development and capacity building in the country.
About the SANAS External Bursary Programme
The SANAS External Bursary Programme for 2026 is designed to assist students who are pursuing higher education qualifications and require financial support for tuition costs. The programme focuses on enabling access to education while building critical skills needed in South Africa.
Bursary Coverage
The SANAS bursary covers tuition fees only, as outlined below:
- National Diploma or Degree: Up to R50 000
- Honours Degree or Postgraduate Diploma: Up to R70 000
Please note: The bursary does not cover accommodation, textbooks or living expenses.
Who Can Apply?
The bursary is open to students who:
- Are committed to furthering their education
- Are registered or intend to register for a National Diploma, Degree, Honours Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in 2026
- Meet the academic requirements of their chosen institution
