Transnet invites South African unemployed students and graduates to apply for the Work Integrated Learner (Technical) Programme 2026

Transnet, through its Corporate Centre, is offering a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) – Technical Programme aimed at providing students and recent graduates with practical workplace experience. This 12-month programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the world of work through hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to real industry operations.
Preference will be given to applicants residing within the King Cetshwayo District.
About the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme
The WIL Technical Programme provides structured workplace exposure to help learners apply their theoretical knowledge in a real working environment. Participants will gain industry-relevant skills while working under the guidance of experienced professionals within Transnet.

Key Responsibilities and Learning Areas
Task Execution
- Assist with specific projects within assigned departments
- Perform routine operational tasks under supervision
- Support administrative duties, documentation, and reporting
Learning and Development
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programmes
- Shadow experienced professionals to gain practical insights
- Engage in problem-solving activities to build analytical skills
Communication and Collaboration
- Interact with internal teams, customers, and suppliers
- Provide regular updates on assigned tasks and project progress
- Act as a support contact for queries and assistance
Research, Analysis, and Compliance
- Conduct data collection, research, and analysis
- Prepare reports and presentations using MS Office tools
- Comply with company policies, safety standards, and ethical requirements
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Matric certificate
- S4–S5 Technical qualification
- Completed all theoretical coursework in one of the following disciplines:
- Electronics
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Physical Metallurgy
- Chemical Engineering
- South African citizen
- Aged between 18 and 35 years
- No bursary obligation with another company
- Proof of confirmation or letter from the institution (most recent)
- Certified copies of Matric certificate, academic record, and ID
