The KwaZulu-Natal Government invites KwaZulu-Natal residents to apply for Bursary Opportunities for the 2026 academic year, offered across key provincial departments.
Bursary Application Period: 31 December 2025 – 15 February 2026
Study Location: Public institutions of higher learning (preference for KZN-based institutions)
These bursaries are aimed at supporting youth aged 18–35 who wish to pursue scarce and critical skills needed by the Province. Youth and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Youth aged 18–35 years
- Residents of KwaZulu-Natal Province
- In possession of Grade 12 / Matric
- Have an acceptance or provisional acceptance letter from a public institution
- Or currently studying in one of the listed fields
Documents Required
Applicants must submit:
- Official bursary application form (available from:

- Student Funding Offices
- Local Municipalities and Libraries
- Provincial Department websites and social media)
- Certified copy of ID (including parents’/guardian’s ID or death certificate where applicable)
- Certified copy of Matric certificate and current academic record
- Proof of income (payslip, pension receipt, bank statement) or unemployment letter/affidavit
- Proof of registration or acceptance / CAO proof
- Proof of residence from ward councillor
- Profiling certificate (if available)
Important Conditions
- The bursary covers tuition fees, accommodation, meals/stipend, and prescribed textbooks
- Bursars must enter into a service contract with the relevant Provincial Department
- Preference is given to students studying at KZN institutions
- Funding is limited; not all applicants will be successful
- Correspondence will be limited to successful applicants only
- If not contacted within 4 months after closing date, consider your application unsuccessful
