Preference will be given to applicants residing near the correctional centre where the vacancy exists.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Possess a Grade 12 / Senior Certificate
- Be computer literate and accurate
- Attach a valid recommendation/nomination as an ICCV from a community organisation (not older than 6 months)
- Be able to work independently and within a team
- Have sound knowledge of Batho Pele principles
- Be assertive and able to work under pressure
- Have good verbal and written communication skills
A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Visit correctional centres daily
- Engage with inmates and Department of Correctional Services (DCS) officials regarding complaints
- Monitor conditions of incarceration
- Report on deaths, segregation, use of force, and use of restraints
- Support JICS officials during inspections and investigations
- Capture inmate complaints and prepare detailed reports
- Perform administrative duties related to complaint management
This role plays a crucial oversight function to ensure accountability, transparency, and protection of inmate rights within correctional facilities.
