Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Energy Apprentice Programme, applicants must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- A minimum of an NTC 3 technical qualification (Electrical Trade Theory, Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics or any other subject in the Heavy Current stream) with Matric
OR - Technical Matric (Grade 12 – English, Electrical Trade Theory, Mathematics, Physical Science and any other subject)
OR - Full NCV 4 Electrical qualification (with 7 subjects)
Additional requirements:
- A strong passion for the Electrical Field
- Must reside within the City of Cape Town metropole
- A valid driver’s licence (Code C1 – old Code 10 – is recommended)
- Must not have qualified in any trade by the time the programme starts
- Must not be in possession of a National S Diploma qualification or higher
Important Medical Requirements
Candidates with medical conditions that may negatively impact participation in the Apprenticeship Programme will not be considered. This includes conditions such as:
- Epilepsy
- Colour blindness
- Any other condition that may affect safe performance of duties
