About the Internship Programme

The City of Johannesburg Internship Programme is an intervention designed to address the growing demand for experiential workplace training required by tertiary institutions.

This opportunity provides youth in Johannesburg communities with structured on-the-job exposure, helping them complete academic qualifications or gain post-qualification practical experience.

The City is committed to providing work-based training and promoting equal employment opportunities.


Who Can Apply?

This internship is open to:

  • Youth residing within the City of Johannesburg
  • Students who qualify for the position
  • Candidates who have never participated in an internship programme before (unless the previous internship was not relevant to their field of study)

Only City of Johannesburg residents will be considered.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
  • Diploma in Marketing / Business Management / Business Administration or NQF Level 6 qualification
  • No prior working experience

Primary Function

The successful candidate will:

Provide highly proficient and efficient customer service that satisfies customer requirements and expectations, ensuring first-contact resolution while maintaining quality and consistency in service delivery.

Interns will gain exposure to:

  • Providing accurate information on products and services
  • Managing and resolving customer complaints
  • Maintaining records of customer interactions
  • Supporting stakeholder relations management
  • Reporting customer care activities
  • Enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
