About Rand Water

About the Horticulture Learnership Programme (NQF Level 2)

This learnership combines:

  • Practical workplace training
  • Theoretical classroom learning
  • Skills development in horticulture and plant production

Participants will gain foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in maintaining horticultural sites and plant production areas.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be unemployed
  • Not be enrolled in any institution or registered for another learnership
  • Not have a completed post-matric qualification
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Be a South African citizen with a valid SA ID
  • Have Matric (Grade 12) with:
    • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
    • Life Science
    • Minimum Level 3 in all required subjects

Applicants must submit a SAQA / NLRD verification report
(Available from the SAQA website via the SAQA Verifications Service – Extract from the NLRD)

Failure to disclose post-matric qualifications will result in disqualification.

Primary Duties

Successful learners will:

  • Attend theoretical classes as part of the programme
  • Complete assignments and practical logbooks
  • Write assessments to evaluate knowledge gained
