About the Bursary Provider – SANA
The South African Nursery Association (SANA) is a non-profit organisation established in 1947. It represents the interests of the horticulture and nursery industry in South Africa and works closely with related associations such as ABSTA, GCA, and BPGA.
SANA promotes professionalism in the horticultural sector and maintains strong relationships with government departments on environmental and industry-related matters.
About the SANA Bursary Programme 2026
SANA is inviting students to apply for its bursary programme for the 2026 academic year.
The bursary is aimed at students pursuing studies in:
- Horticulture
- Landscaping
This programme supports students who are passionate about the green industry and want to build careers in horticulture and environmental fields.
What the Bursary Covers
The bursary will cover:
- Tuition fees only
Funding is paid directly to the institution.
The bursary does not cover:
- Outstanding fees
- Accommodation
- Books
- Travel or allowances
- Registration or practical training costs
Additional Benefits
Successful bursary recipients will also receive free SANA membership, which includes:
- Industry newsletters and updates
- Digital SANA Magazine
- Invitations to SANA Trade Fairs in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal
- Networking opportunities within the nursery industry
Membership is valid for 1 year and must be renewed annually.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must have completed Matric
- Must be studying towards a Horticulture or Landscaping qualification
- Must preferably be studying at undergraduate level
- Must have completed all modules of the first academic year
- Must have achieved a minimum average of 60% per subject
- Must be registered for 2026 studies at a recognised South African institution
- Must be a SANA student member or apply for membership (free)

Applicants must submit the following:
- Certified copy of ID document
- Recent photograph (selfie or student card photo)
- Current academic record
- Certificates of previous studies
- Tertiary institution banking details (on official letterhead)
- Proof of registration for 2026
- Completed SANA Student Membership Application Form
- Completed SANA Bursary Checklist
- Motivational letter (minimum 150 words)
