About the Valterra Platinum Learnership Programme 2026
Valterra Platinum is offering an Engineering Learnership Programme (18.2 Unemployed) designed to provide candidates with both theoretical and practical training in the mining industry.
This programme combines:
- Off-the-job training
- Workplace experience
Successful completion of the programme will lead to a nationally recognised Artisan qualification, opening doors to long-term careers in engineering and mining.

- Fitter
- Boilermaker Plater
- Electrician
- Instrument Mechanician
- Millwright
- Welder
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following:
Option 1:
- Grade 12 / Matric with:
- Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy)
- Physical Science
- English
- Minimum 40% pass in all subjects
OR Option 2:
- N2 or higher qualification with relevant subjects for the chosen trade

Alternatively, applicants may have NCV Level 4 in the relevant trade with all subjects passed at a minimum of 40%.

- Certified copy of South African ID
- Proof of residence (required for applicants from host communities, stamped by a tribal office or municipality)
