York Timbers invites South African unemployed youth to apply for the Apprenticeship (Work Integrated Learning – WIL) Programme 2026.

About the York Timbers WIL Apprenticeship 2026

York Timbers is offering a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Apprenticeship Programme aimed at students who have completed their theoretical studies and require practical workplace experience to graduate.

This programme focuses on bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry experience in the forestry and manufacturing sectors.

Participants will gain hands-on exposure to machinery, maintenance, and industrial operations while developing technical and workplace skills.


Available Apprenticeship Opportunities

  • Electrical WIL Placement (1 Post)
  • Millwright WIL Placement (1 Post)

Due to the limited number of positions, competition is expected to be high.


Programme Purpose

The programme is designed to:

  • Provide practical workplace experience
  • Develop technical and problem-solving skills
  • Build industry readiness
  • Improve employability in engineering fields

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have completed Grade 12 (Matric) with:
    • Mathematics
    • Physical Science
  • Must have an N6 Certificate in:
    • Electrical Engineering, or
    • Millwright-related trade
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Must be currently unemployed

Location Requirement

  • Only applicants residing in the Roodekop surrounding area will be considered

  • Cover letter (explaining interest and career goals)
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Official WIL / Experiential Learning letter from institution
  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified copies of qualifications
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate
  • Proof of residence

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
