Overview of the Internship Programme
The University of the Free State (UFS) is offering 7 internship positions under the Graduation Positioning Support (GPS) programme.
This internship is aimed at supporting student success through advising, tutoring, and data-driven student support initiatives. Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience in academic support, research, and student engagement within a university environment.
Internship Programme Details
- Position: GPS Success Coaches Intern (x7)

- Duration: 12 months (contract)

- Monthly Stipend: R9,497.50

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree or B-Tech Degree (NQF Level 7)
Inherent Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year relevant experience as:
- Tutor
- Student assistant
- Teaching assistant
- Participation in student leadership programmes
Additional Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
- Not be currently participating in another internship or learnership
- Not have previous formal work experience
- Be willing to sign an internship agreement
- Be available for the full 12-month period
Recommended Qualifications and Skills
- Honours Degree (NQF Level 8)
- Knowledge of teaching and learning support
- Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong verbal communication skills
Key Responsibilities
Successful interns will:
- Provide support via calls, emails, and messages to students
- Assist with student tracking and support initiatives
- Capture and manage student data and reports
- Conduct research and support academic projects
- Provide tutoring and advising support
- Participate in training and development programmes
