About the ICCV Positions
The Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) is recruiting Independent Correctional Centre Visitors (ICCVs) on a 36-month contract basis.
ICCVs play an important oversight role within correctional centres by monitoring inmate treatment, handling complaints, and reporting on conditions of incarceration.
Salary
- Salary: R89 046 per annum
- Level: 3/8th, Level 05
- Additional Benefits: 37% in lieu of benefits

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate
- Computer literacy skills
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Sound knowledge of Batho Pele Principles
- Ability to work under pressure
- Assertiveness and professionalism
Additional Requirement
Applicants must attach:
- A recommendation or nomination letter as an ICCV from a community organisation
- The letter must not be older than six (6) months

- Valid driver’s licence
Preference will be given to applicants residing near the correctional centre where the post is advertised.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Visit correctional facilities daily
- Engage with inmates and correctional officials
- Handle inmate complaints and related matters
- Monitor incarceration conditions
- Report deaths, segregation, use of force and restraints
- Support JICS officials during inspections and investigations
- Perform administrative and report-writing duties
- Capture inmate complaints and mandatory reports
