About the Absa Industrial and Organisational Psychology Internship 2027
Absa Group Limited is offering an Industrial and Organisational Psychology Internship Programme for 2027.
This is a one-year internship programme accredited with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). The programme is designed to upskill Industrial Psychology Masters students towards registering as Industrial Psychologists in independent practice.
The internship gives aspiring Industrial and Organisational Psychologists practical exposure within a dynamic Pan-African banking environment while helping them meet professional registration requirements.
Programme Duration
The internship will run for 12 months.
Interns must be Johannesburg-based from 01 February 2027 to the end of January 2028.
Interns are required to complete 260 days of the programme within the 12-month period.
Programme Domains
The internship programme includes the following six domains:
- Organisational psychology
- Human resource / personnel psychology
- Career psychology and employee wellness / wellbeing
- Testing and assessment
- Elective project
- Professional ethics
Interns are required to complete all domains during the internship period.
Supervision and Evaluation
During the internship, interns will be assigned two supervisors:
- An internal senior Industrial Psychologist within Absa
- An external Industrial Psychologist from a recognised academic institution
Interns will be evaluated through a logbook and quarterly reports while contributing meaningfully to the organisation and the Industrial Psychology profession.
