About Ninety One Bursary 2027

Ninety One is inviting students to apply for the #Changeblazer Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year.

The bursary is aimed at South African Matric learners who plan to study full-time at a recognised university in South Africa in 2027.

Fields of Study Covered

Bursaries will be awarded for studies in the following fields:

  • Business
  • Finance
  • Economics
  • Education
  • Engineering
  • Healthcare, excluding Dentistry, Medicine and Veterinary Science
  • Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Psychology

What the Bursary Covers

The Ninety One Bursary may cover the following expenses:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Learning materials
  • Accommodation
  • Meals

Additional Bursary Benefits

The bursary may also provide additional support such as:

  • Private tutoring
  • Career guidance
  • Resilience training
  • Mental health support
  • Financial wellbeing sessions

Top-performing students may also receive extra support, including:

  • Assistance with getting a driverโ€™s licence
  • Working wardrobe support for a graduateโ€™s first job

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be South African citizens
  • Must be under 21 years old in 2027
  • Must be currently in Matric
  • Must intend to study full-time towards a qualification in one of the listed fields
  • Must be entering first year of university in 2027
  • Must intend to study at a recognised university in South Africa
  • Must preferably have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% for English and Mathematics or Sciences in Grade 11
  • Must have proven financial need
  • Family income must be less than R600 000 per year
  • Must satisfy the minimum entry requirements for the chosen field of study
  • Must have an excellent academic record
  • Must show strong leadership qualities

Selection Process

The bursary programme is administered by Career Wise.

Career Wise is responsible for receiving applications, scanning documents and shortlisting candidates.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend a panel interview assessment between October and December 2026.

Successful candidates may receive provisional acceptance by December, with final bursary awards confirmed after the release of Matric results in January.

Documents Required

Applicants may be required to submit clear copies of the following supporting documents:

  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified copy of Grade 11 final results
  • Certified copy of latest Matric results
  • Proof of application or registration at a university for 2027, on institution letterhead
  • Proof of parentsโ€™ or guardiansโ€™ household income
  • Latest payslips, if employed
  • Affidavit, if unemployed
  • SASSA or pension slip, if applicable

Applicants should ensure that all documents are clear and uploaded correctly. Missing documents may result in disqualification.
