Inxuba Yethemba Municipality is offering four internship opportunities within its Corporate Services Department.

The available positions include two ICT Internship posts and two Registry Internship posts. Successful candidates will be appointed on two-year contracts and receive a monthly salary of R5 000.

1. ICT Internship Programme

Position: ICT Intern

Requirements for the ICT Internship

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12.
  • A degree or National Diploma in Information Technology.
  • A qualification specialising in Support Services, Computer Networks or a related field.
  • An NQF Level 6 qualification.
  • A full academic transcript.
  • Computer literacy.

The following qualifications will be an added advantage:

  • CompTIA A+ certificate.
  • CompTIA Network+ certificate.
  • CCNA certificate.

Applicants should also have knowledge of computer hardware troubleshooting and software support.

ICT Internship Duties

The successful interns will assist with:

  • Providing end-user technical support.
  • Troubleshooting network and computer problems.
  • Coordinating troubleshooting and problem-solving activities.
  • Resolving software and hardware problems.
  • Communicating technical issues to the immediate supervisor.
  • Conducting research on equipment and application requirements.
  • Installing and configuring software applications.
  • Testing applications and solving system errors.
  • Conducting analysis and evaluating application functionality.
  • Upgrading and repairing computers and printers.
  • Setting up local area network cabling.
  • Troubleshooting LAN connectivity.
  • Attending to logged support calls remotely.

2. Registry Internship Programme

Requirements for the Registry Internship

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 or an NCV NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • A National Diploma in Public Administration, Management or Records Management.
  • A relevant NQF Level 6 qualification.

Registry Internship Duties

Successful candidates will assist with:

  • Receiving incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Recording dates and address details in registers or electronic registry systems.
  • Establishing filing systems.
  • Creating new files using approved reference codes.
  • Preparing physical documents by removing staples, paper clips and damaged pages.
  • Operating high-speed scanners.
  • Converting physical records into secure digital formats.
  • Compiling minutes of registry meetings.
  • Forwarding meeting minutes to the relevant supervisor.
  • Checking scanned images for clarity, accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensuring that all document pages are captured.
  • Capturing document details such as dates, references and document types.
  • Identifying records that are due for permanent archiving.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
