Security Guard Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 9.
- Security Guard Qualification / Certificate โ Grade D.
- Qualification recognised by the relevant security industry authority.
- Valid PSIRA registration certificate.
- Proof of medical fitness from a registered medical practitioner.
- At least 12 months’ relevant security experience.
- No criminal record.
Security Guard Duties
Successful candidates may be responsible for:
- Safeguarding municipal assets.
- Protecting municipal property.
- Recording incoming and outgoing equipment.
- Maintaining inventory control records.
- Updating occurrence registers.
- Recording incidents.
- Controlling access to municipal facilities.
- Monitoring entry and exit of employees and visitors.
- Searching vehicles where required.
- Directing members of the public.
- Monitoring risks and threats.

Team Leader Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12.
- Security Training Certificate โ Grade A or Grade B.
- Valid PSIRA registration certificate.
- Valid Firearm Competency Certificate and/or firearm licence.
- Valid Code B driver’s licence.
- Computer literacy.
- At least two years’ relevant experience in a security environment.
- No criminal record.
Supervisory or team-leading experience is preferable.
Team Leader Duties
Successful candidates may be responsible for:
- Supervising security guards.
- Coordinating security personnel.
- Ensuring staff deployment according to duty rosters.
- Monitoring access control.
- Monitoring patrols and security posts.
- Conducting inspections.
- Reporting security incidents.
- Reporting security risks.
- Checking occurrence books.
- Reviewing incident reports.
- Responding to security incidents.

- Monitoring access control and patrols.
- Monitoring occurrence registers and incident reports.
- Identifying security risks.
- Investigating incidents.
- Preparing duty rosters.
- Inspecting security operations.
- Monitoring employee performance.
- Liaising with SAPS.
- Liaising with other law-enforcement stakeholders.
- Assisting with security programmes and operational plans.
