Mulilo Bursary Programme 2027

Mulilo is offering bursary funding to students from selected municipalities in the Northern Cape who want to pursue studies at recognised tertiary or trade institutions in South Africa.

The bursary is open to:

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens.
  • Permanently reside in the Northern Cape.
  • Reside specifically within Emthanjeni, Renosterberg or Siyathemba municipality.
  • Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
  • Be studying or intending to study towards a qualification in any field.
  • Be studying or have applied to study at a recognised and accredited tertiary or trade institution in South Africa.

What the Mulilo Bursary Covers

The bursary provides financial support for:

  • Tuition fees.
  • Textbook allowance.
  • Accommodation.
  • Monthly stipend.

Successful students will also receive additional support in the form of:

  • Psycho-social support.
  • Academic tutoring.

Residence Requirement

Applicants must permanently reside in one of the following Northern Cape municipalities:

  • Emthanjeni Municipality.
  • Renosterberg Municipality.
  • Siyathemba Municipality.

Applicants should make sure they can provide valid proof of residence confirming that their home address falls within the eligible catchment area.

Required Application Documents

Applicants must submit:

  • Certified copy of ID document.
  • Latest Matric results if currently in Matric.
  • Matric certificate if Matric has already been completed.
  • Full academic record or transcripts if currently studying.
  • Proof of address, such as a utility bill, bank statement or another document confirming the home address.
  • Parent or guardian proof of household income.
  • Latest payslips if the parent or guardian is employed.
  • Affidavit if the parent or guardian is unemployed.
  • Tertiary fee statement.
  • Accommodation fee statement.

Applicants must also submit an affidavit confirming:

  1. That their permanent home residence falls within the eligible catchment area.
  2. That they do not have another source of funding.
  3. Whether this is the first time they are registered to study at a higher education institution.
