Quality Assurer Duties
Quality Assurers assist with ensuring that examination marking records are accurate and complete.
Responsibilities may include receiving and distributing scripts to marking teams, checking script and marksheet quantities, scanning examination scripts and confirming that all questions have been marked.
They may also check that marks have been correctly added, transferred to the front cover of each script and accurately captured on marksheets.
Quality Assurers are expected to identify discrepancies, ensure corrections are made and reconcile the number of examination scripts before arranging them for indexed archival.
Why Mathematics or Accounting Is Required
The GDE requires advanced numerical ability because both Examination Assistants and Quality Assurers work with examination scripts, marksheets, totals and other official records.
Quality Assurers in particular may need to verify whether marks have been added correctly and accurately transferred between examination scripts and marksheets.
Applicants must therefore meet the Mathematics or Accounting requirement stated in the advertisement.
Ability to Work Under Pressure
Examination administration operates according to strict deadlines and involves large volumes of sensitive documentation.
Successful applicants should therefore be able to work accurately under pressure, maintain concentration and identify errors quickly.
Application Questions Applicants Should Prepare For
During the online application, applicants may be asked about their Matric or equivalent qualification, tertiary registration status, current or highest year of study, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy results, Accounting results and previous Examination Assistant or Quality Assurer experience.
Applicants should provide truthful and accurate information.
