Limpopo Education Caregiver/Class Assistant Vacancies 2026

The Limpopo Department of Education is recruiting 37 Individual Learner Support Caregivers/Class Assistants to provide one-to-one support to learners who require additional educational, behavioural, communication, social or personal-care assistance.

The positions are offered on a:

Three-month fixed-term contract

with an all-inclusive remuneration of:

R4,500 per month

The contracts may be renewed depending on the learner’s support needs, performance, funding availability and school requirements.

Minimum Requirements

What Does a Caregiver/Class Assistant Do?

The role involves providing specialised one-to-one support to a learner who may have significant educational, behavioural, social, communication or personal-care needs.

The assistant helps the learner participate in classroom activities, access the curriculum and develop greater independence.

The role may also require close collaboration with teachers, therapists, parents, caregivers and other support professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates may be required to provide individualised learning support, assist with classroom activities, implement strategies recommended by teachers and therapists, support communication and behaviour management, and monitor learner progress.

Depending on the learner’s needs, duties may also include assistance with mobility, feeding, toileting, personal care and other health-related routines.

Candidates will also be expected to maintain confidentiality, protect learner dignity, support inclusion in school activities and participate in meetings or training when required.
