The Caroline Mack Foundation, in partnership with SD Recruitment, invites qualifying South African students residing in the Western Cape to apply for the Nursing Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year.

Caroline Mack Foundation Nursing Bursary 2027

SD Recruitment, in partnership with the Caroline Mack Foundation, is offering one bursary for a deserving student who wants to pursue a SANC-recognised Nursing qualification.

The bursary is specifically aimed at students who reside in the Western Cape and demonstrate strong academic performance and financial need.

Field of Study Covered

The bursary is available for:

Undergraduate Nursing studies recognised by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

Applicants must be studying or intending to study at a recognised and accredited higher education institution in South Africa.

What the Bursary Covers

The bursary provides:

  • Full tuition fees for the duration of the qualification.
  • A small monthly stipend.
  • Support and mentorship from industry professionals.
  • Pre-placement medical screening facilitated by the Foundation.
  • Career support aimed at helping the student begin a healthcare career.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens.
  • Reside in the Western Cape.
  • Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
  • Be studying or planning to study towards a SANC-recognised undergraduate Nursing qualification.
  • Be accepted or enrolled at a recognised and accredited higher education institution in South Africa.
  • Have achieved at least a 65% academic average.
  • Demonstrate financial need.

Preference will be given to applicants who may otherwise be unable to afford their studies.

Work-Back Obligation

Successful bursary recipients will be required to work back the funding awarded after graduation.

The compulsory Community Service Year will count towards the student’s first year of the bursary work-back obligation.

Recipients must also maintain the required academic performance each year in order to continue receiving funding.

Applicants must submit:

  • Certified copy of ID document or birth certificate.
  • Latest Matric results, Matric certificate or academic record.
  • Proof of acceptance or registration at a tertiary institution.
  • Proof of residence.
  • Proof of financial need.
  • Parent or guardian proof of household income, or an affidavit of financial need.
  • A two-page motivational letter.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Two letters of reference.
