Who Can Apply?
Applicants must be South African citizens who reside in Mpumalanga Province.
Both current Matric learners and applicants who have already completed Grade 12 may apply, provided they meet all of the compulsory academic requirements.

- National Senior Certificate with a Diploma or Degree pass.
- English at Level 4 or above.
- Home Language or any Additional Language at Level 3 or above.
- Life Sciences at Level 4 or Physical Sciences at Level 3 or above.
- Mathematics at Level 3 or above, or Mathematical Literacy at Level 5 or above.
- Any other subject at Level 3 or above.
- Life Orientation at Level 3 or above.
- Minimum APS of 23 calculated using the six highest subjects, excluding Life Orientation.
- South African citizenship.
- Residence in Mpumalanga Province.
- Age between 18 and 36 years.

The APS must be calculated from the six subjects with the highest achievement levels, excluding Life Orientation.
Meeting the minimum APS does not guarantee admission. Selection will still depend on the Department’s recruitment process, verification of qualifications and the number of available places.
Qualification Verification
Applicants should ensure that all qualifications and results submitted are genuine and accurate.
The Department states that certificates will be sent for verification.
Certificates that are not registrable with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) will not be considered.
The advertisement specifically gives ABET qualifications as an example of certificates that will not be accepted for this programme.
What Successful Applicants Will Do
Successful applicants will participate in a structured nursing education programme consisting of theoretical learning and practical clinical training.
Students will be required to attend lectures and complete Work Integrated Learning at facilities accredited by the South African Nursing Council.
Successful candidates will also be required to sign an agreement or contract with the Mpumalanga Department of Health.
Work Integrated Learning
Clinical workplace training forms an important part of the programme.
Students will complete Work Integrated Learning at approved healthcare facilities where they will gain supervised practical nursing experience.
This means the programme includes both classroom-based academic training and practical exposure in healthcare environments.

- Certified copy of identity document.
- Proof of residence from the relevant local Municipal Authority or Tribal Authority.
The certified ID copy must have been certified within three months of the application closing date.
