About the Seriti Bursary
Seriti is offering bursaries for the 2026 academic year to support high-performing students studying towards qualifications in key mining-related disciplines. The scheme provides financial assistance to students registered at recognised South African public universities and universities of technology.
Successful applicants will receive comprehensive funding and may be considered for vacation work and work-back opportunities with Seriti after graduation, depending on business needs.
Fields of Study Covered
Seriti will fund studies in the following fields:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Environmental Studies
- Geology
- Mine Surveying
- Mining Engineering
- VOHE (Ventilation & Occupational Hygiene Engineering)
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Requirements)
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Be currently registered for a degree or diploma (NQF 7) in one of the listed fields
- Be in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study in 2026
- Be Honours students (Geology or Environmental disciplines only)
- Have a minimum average of 60%
- Have a basic understanding of Mining Legislation, including the Mine Health and Safety Act
- Submit latest academic results
- Be studying full-time at a registered tertiary institution
NOT Eligible:
- 1st-year students
- Students in bridging/foundation programmes
- Students receiving another bursary or sponsorship
What the Seriti Bursary Covers
The bursary provides:
- Full tuition fee payment for 2026
(excludes previously failed modules or outstanding fees) - Accommodation & meals
- Pocket money allowance
- Book allowance
- Once-off laptop allowance
Terms & Conditions
- Award is subject to official 2026 registration and 2025 academic results
- Vacation work and post-study work-back obligations may apply
- Preference given to students from local Seriti communities
- Application must include certified documents (within 3 months)
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
- If no feedback is received within 30 days after closing, consider the application unsuccessful
