About the Learnership
Engineering Learnerships in the mining sector are initiated by the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA).
- Training is based on prescribed Unit Standards
- Learners accumulate credits on the MQA database
- Upon completion, learners receive an MQA certificate
- A formal Trade Test is required at the end of the programme
This structured programme allows candidates to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical on-site mining experience.
Minimum Requirements – Plumber
Applicants must have:
- N2 with the following subjects:
- Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy)
- Engineering / Building Science
- Building Drawing
- Plumbing Theory
Additional essential requirements:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- N2/N3 Engineering Studies
- English literacy
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to pass the Technical Test Battery Assessment
- Ability to obtain a Dover “B” Symbol
Advantageous:
- Valid Driver’s Licence Code B/EB
