About the ATS Bursary Programme

ATNS will host four bursary intakes during the financial year. Successful applicants will receive extensive training aligned with the organisation’s operational requirements.

The programme provides full-time academic and practical exposure to various fields within Air Traffic Services.

  1. Air Traffic Services Officer (ATSO)
  2. Aeronautical Information Management Officer (AIMO)
  3. Target Generating Officer (TGO)
  4. Airport Management Centre (AMC) Liaison Officer
  5. Simulator Support Officer (SSO)

Job Description

Bursars will undergo:

  • Comprehensive training at the Aviation Training Academy
  • Exposure to air traffic management systems
  • Practical and theoretical learning
  • Work-integrated training based on operational needs

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet ALL of the following:

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • Pass in:
    • Pure Mathematics (Level 4 / HG-D / SG-C or above)
    • English (Level 4 / HG-D / SG-C or above)
  • South African citizen with valid ID
  • Medically fit and willing to undergo medical assessments (ATSO stream)
  • Attach Grade 12 results to your application
  • Willing to relocate anywhere in South Africa
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must be youth (18–35)
  • Applicants previously on ATNS bursary programmes will not be considered
