Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) Bursaries 2026

The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) invites South African students to apply for the AGSA Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.

About the AGSA Bursary Programme

The AGSA Bursary is awarded to students pursuing Chartered Accountancy qualifications, specifically in the following study fields:

  • BCom Accounting (CA stream)
  • Bachelor of Accounting (CA stream)
  • BCompt

The bursary provides comprehensive financial support, covering:

  • Tuition fees
  • University accommodation
  • Meals
  • Prescribed books

After completing their studies, bursary recipients will be required to serve articles or undergo training with AGSA.


Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be currently in Matric (Grade 12) or have already completed Matric
  • Must be studying or intending to study full-time towards one of the Chartered Accountancy qualifications listed above
  • Must study at a SAICA-accredited university

Academic Requirements:

Matric students (for 1st year in 2026):

  • Matric exemption with university entrance
  • At least 60% in Mathematics (NOT Mathematical Literacy)
  • At least 60% in English

1st year students (for 2nd year in 2026):

  • Minimum 60% in Financial Accounting
  • 60% in Mathematics and English (Matric results)

2nd year students (for 3rd year in 2026):

  • Minimum 60% in Financial Accounting
  • Minimum 60% in Management Accounting

Final year students (for postgraduate studies in 2026):

  • At least 55% in all core modules
  • Must be accepted into the CTA programme

Additional requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership potential
  • Determination and commitment to success

  • ID document
  • Full academic record
  • CTA programme acceptance letter
