About the Energy Efficiency Internship Programme
The Energy Efficiency Demand Side Management (EEDSM) Internship Programme is designed to provide unemployed graduates with hands-on experience in municipal electrical services, energy efficiency projects, and infrastructure support.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
- Matric plus Engineering Diploma (S4) or National Certificate (N6)
- Qualification must be in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Energy
- Built Environment
- Valid South African ID
- Willingness to sign an Internship/Graduate Programme agreement
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Key Responsibilities
Interns will assist with:
- Managing and updating the energy efficiency project database
- Cataloguing potential energy efficiency projects (concept to feasibility)
- Data gathering and analysis for prioritised projects
- Supporting the Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management (EEDSM) programme
- Monitoring energy efficiency projects
- Preparing briefing reports
- Supporting logistics for workshops and events
- Performing general administrative and technical support duties
Knowledge & Skills Exposure
Interns will gain exposure to:
- Building energy efficiency (lighting, HVAC, water heating)
- Public lighting systems (high mast lights, street lights, traffic lights)
- Water and wastewater treatment energy efficiency
- Small-scale embedded generation technologies
- Municipal energy management systems
