Bursaries will be awarded for BSc or BEng degree studies in the following fields:
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
Bigen aims to develop South Africa’s young engineering talent through financial support, mentorship, and industry exposure.
What the Bigen Bursary Covers
The bursary provides financial support for:
- Tuition fees
- Registration fees
- Prescribed textbooks
- Other necessary academic expenses
Note: The bursary does not cover accommodation or residence fees.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be studying towards a BSc or BEng degree in one of the listed engineering fields
- Must be registered at a recognised and accredited South African university
- Minimum 70% average for first-year students
- Minimum 65% average for second or third-year students
- Must not be receiving any other bursary or NSFAS funding
- Must have strong leadership acumen
Part-time students may also apply.

Required Documents (Compulsory)
Submit clear and certified copies of the following:
- South African ID or Smart ID card
- Matric certificate
- Full academic transcript
- Proof of registration
- CV (in PDF format)
- Proof of banking details (stamped by the bank)
- Proof of residential address (e.g., municipal bill, account statement, or a letter from a Tribal Authority or Councillor)
