About the City of Johannesburg Student Internship 2025
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), through its Group Corporate and Shared Services Department, is offering an exciting internship opportunity for qualifying students residing in the Johannesburg community. This is part of the City’s initiative to provide on-the-job exposure for students to complete academic requirements or obtain experiential training after qualification.
The internship is available for a period not exceeding 18 months and is targeted at unemployed graduates who have not previously participated in an internship programme.

- Designation: Internship: Intake Officer
- Remuneration: R10,109.86 per month (Basic salary only, no benefits)
- Contract Duration: Up to 18 months
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
- National Diploma in:
- Public Administration
- Business Administration
- Office Administration
- Social Auxiliary Work
- Social Sciences
- Or an equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification
- Or a Degree at NQF Level 7
- Must be unemployed and have never participated in an internship programme before
- Must be a resident of the City of Johannesburg
Primary Function
To provide comprehensive administrative and logistical support to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) unit, enhancing the unit’s operational efficiency.
Key Learning Areas
- Administrative coordination for the EAP
- Promotion and efficiency improvement of the Employee Assistance Programme
- Collation and preparation of data for statutory reporting
