The City of Johannesburg is inviting applications for a Student Internship position in the Human Settlements Department.
This internship opportunity is available for qualifying youth in Johannesburg communities who need on-the-job exposure as part of their academic qualification or experiential training after completing their qualification.
The internship will run for a period not exceeding 18 months.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a Matric / Grade 12 certificate.
Applicants must have a Degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Public Management or Public Administration at NQF Level 7.
No experience is required.
Only City of Johannesburg residents will be considered.
Applicants must not have participated in an internship programme before, unless the previous internship was not relevant to the candidateโs course of study.
Primary Function
The successful intern will perform developmental-level professional administrative work, research and analysis in support of the Business Management Directorate within the Department of Human Settlements.
The intern will participate in day-to-day operations, including general office administration, monitoring and evaluation, risk management, regulatory compliance and HR-related administrative support.
The role will also include involvement in administrative tasks linked to long-term, medium-term and short-term strategic planning.
Key Learning Areas
The intern will render developmental-level professional administrative and support services in the Business Management Directorate.
The intern will assist with site visits and research analysis, including verifying reported information through site visits or physical risk assessments on projects.
The intern will also assist with administrative tasks related to strategic planning.
Other duties may include transporting restricted documents by hand, including sensitive and confidential information.

Applicants must be able to work independently after receiving initial guidance.
Candidates must be able to handle confidential information in a sensitive and professional manner.
Applicants must have planning, organisational and prioritising skills.
The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, flexible, adaptable and able to work well in a team.

Computer literacy is required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to analyse data using Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge of Council standard processes and procedures relating to administrative support will be an added advantage.
General knowledge of municipal government and city regulations or codes will also be useful.
