The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering an internship opportunity for qualifying youth residing within the Johannesburg community. This Student Internship Programme forms part of the City’s commitment to providing experiential learning and work-based training for tertiary students who require practical exposure to complete, strengthen, or complement their academic qualifications.
This internship is strictly for students who have never participated in an internship, unless the previous internship was not related to their current field of study.
Internship Position Available
Internship: IPPR Administration (Social Development Department)
This exciting opportunity allows students to gain hands-on administrative, policy development, and research support experience within the Integrated Policy Planning and Research Unit (IPPR).
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4)
- National Diploma in Public Administration, Public Management, Economics, or Social Sciences (NQF Level 6 or higher)
- Must be a resident of the City of Johannesburg
- Must be a student who requires workplace exposure to complete or support their academic qualification
- Must not have participated in any internship programme before (unless it was unrelated to their course of study)
Primary Function of the Internship
The intern will provide essential administrative and logistical support to the IPPR Unit, including record keeping, scheduling, coordinating meetings and workshops, and offering exposure to:
- Intergovernmental Relations (IGR)
- Policy development processes
- Research methods and procedures
This role ensures efficient workflow, professional communication, and accurate document management.
