Department of Cooperative Governance: Bursaries 2024 invites eligible South African students to submit applications for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2024.

Bursary application closing date is 05 December 2023.

This bursary opportunity for Disaster Risk Management, Disaster Risk Studies, or Fire Services Technology qualifications provides financial support to South African students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or master’s programs.

Eligibility Criteria:

Undergraduate/Postgraduate Applicants:

  • Brief Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages)
  • National Senior Certificate:
    • Undergraduate: Average of 60% and above
    • Postgraduate: Latest qualification at a recognized SA institution with an average of 60% and above
  • Proof of acceptance/registration/application for a full program in the mentioned qualifications
  • Certified copy of a valid South African ID
  • Proof of household income (Unemployed applicants: < R350,000 per annum or zero-household income / Employed applicants: < R350,000 per annum)
  • Employed applicants must provide proof of income.

Masters Qualification Applicants:

  • Brief Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages)
  • National Senior Certificate
  • Latest qualification at a recognized SA institution with an average of 65% and above
  • Proof of application/acceptance/registration for a full program in the specified qualifications
  • Certified copy of a valid South African ID
  • 1-2 page concept note of proposed Masters research on Priority Thematic Areas

Bursary Allowances:

  • Covers 100% tuition fees, including registration, and research allowance capped at R11,000.00
