The Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental, and Tourism (DEDEAT) is welcoming applications from South African students for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2024.

The Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental, and Tourism is offering a Bursary Programme for 2024 with a focus on supporting disadvantaged communities within the Eastern Cape Province. Here are the details:

About Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development: The Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental and Tourism plays a key role in driving economic growth and development in the province. It oversees various provincial-owned entities, such as the Eastern Cape Development Corporation, the Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board, and the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency. The department is actively involved in initiatives like the auto cluster and the Wild Coast Development.

Available Fields of Study: Bursaries are available for students pursuing or intending to pursue studies in academic courses related to Economic Development and Environmental Management during the 2024 academic year. The focus areas and qualification requirements include:

Bursary Requirements:

  • Applicants must be from the Eastern Cape Province.
  • Required documentation includes completed bursary application forms, an acceptance letter with certified copies of an ID book, Grade 12 final results or progress reports, proof of parents or guardian’s salary (or affidavit if not working), proof of address and affidavit to confirm Eastern Cape residency, and an acceptance letter from the institution applied to.
  • First preference will be given to applicants without post-matric qualifications who have not previously received a bursary from DEDDEAT and have passed all relevant subjects.
  • For second-year applications, first-year results are required.
