About the Internship Programme
The Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture is offering a 24-month non-renewable internship programme aimed at unemployed graduates.
The programme is designed to provide graduates with practical work experience in the Public Service while helping to address youth unemployment.
Applicants must not have previously participated in an internship programme and must be unemployed.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- National Senior Certificate / Matric / Grade 12.
- A three-year Degree or National Diploma at NQF Level 6 recognised by SAQA in one of the following areas:
- Arts and Culture Studies
- Arts Management
- Fine Arts
- Performing Arts
- Bachelor of Arts
- Social Sciences with relevant majors
- Music
- Dance
- Drama
- Visual Arts
- Film
- Language
- Related field of study
Applicants should also have:
- Previous experience in arts administration, event planning or related fields.
- Knowledge of arts and culture structures and funding institutions.
- Strong interest in arts, culture and community engagement.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Creativity and willingness to contribute ideas.
Applicants must also:
- Be South African citizens.
- Have no criminal record.
- Be unemployed.
- Never have participated in an internship programme before.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful interns will assist with:
- Developing concept documents.
- Developing budgets.
- Implementing operational plans.
- Monitoring funded arts and culture projects.
- Compiling project reports.
- Planning and coordinating arts and culture events.
- Assisting with exhibitions and festivals.
- Compiling monthly reports.
- Implementing outreach programmes.
- Assisting with procurement.
- Scheduling meetings.
- Drafting correspondence.
- Maintaining databases.
- Organising meetings.
- Taking minutes.
- Engaging with artists, performers and community partners.
