About the Exxaro Bursary 2027

Exxaro Corporate Centre (The ConneXXion) is offering bursary opportunities for students living with disabilities who are pursuing higher education studies in South Africa.

The bursary forms part of Exxaro’s commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and aims to create equal access to higher education for students with disabilities residing within Exxaro host communities in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

The programme seeks to support deserving students in achieving their academic goals while preparing them for future career opportunities within South Africa’s key economic sectors.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies in the following fields:

  • Agriculture and Environmental Management
  • Arts and Humanities
  • Business and Economics
  • Education and Teaching
  • Engineering and Technology
  • Health Sciences
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Law and Social Sciences
  • Natural and Physical Sciences

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Exxaro Bursary Programme 2027, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be between 18 and 28 years old
  • Reside within an Exxaro host community in Limpopo or Mpumalanga
  • Be living with a disability as defined under the Employment Equity Amendment Act (EEA)
  • Be enrolled in a minimum three-year Degree or Diploma programme
  • Be studying within one of the approved fields of study
  • Be registered at a recognised and accredited South African tertiary institution
  • Be able to maintain the academic performance requirements outlined in the bursary agreement
  • Commit to attending classes and completing all academic requirements
  • Submit academic progress reports or transcripts each semester
  • Participate in bursary-related activities and development initiatives
  • Demonstrate good conduct and professionalism
  • Be willing to fulfil any work-back obligations, internships, or service commitments required by Exxaro after graduation
  • Inform the bursary office of any changes to studies, institution, or personal circumstances

Required Supporting Documents

Applicants must submit clear copies of the following documents:

  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified copy of Matric Certificate
  • Full academic record or tertiary transcripts on the institution’s letterhead
  • Medical letter confirming disability status
  • Proof of residence

Failure to submit all required documents may result in disqualification.
