The Gauteng College of Nursing (GCON) invites applications for the Student Nurse Intake 2026, offering dedicated individuals the opportunity to pursue a Diploma in Nursing at one of its four campuses:
- Ann Latsky Campus
- Chris Hani Baragwanath Campus
- SG Lourens Campus
- Bonalesedi Campus

Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a South African citizen residing in Gauteng Province.
- Hold one of the following certificates:
- Senior Certificate
- National Senior Certificate (NSC)
- Currently in Grade 12
- National Vocational Certificate (Primary Health)
Minimum Academic Requirements
For Senior Certificate holders:
- English HG (D) or SG (C)
- Biology HG (D) or SG (C)
- Mathematics HG (D) or SG (C)
- M score: 17
For National Senior Certificate holders:
- English Level 4
- Life Sciences Level 4
- Mathematics Level 4 OR Maths Literacy Level 5
- APS: 27 or higher (Life Orientation counts half)
For National Vocational Certificate holders:
- 50% in Fundamental Subjects (English FAL, Maths/Maths Literacy, Life Orientation)
- 60% in Vocational Subjects (SA Health Care System, Public Health, Human Body and Mind, Community Oriented Primary Care)
For Current Grade 12 learners:
- Must meet the NSC requirements in their Grade 11 final results.

Recruitment and Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will undergo:
- Compulsory psychometric assessment
- Medical surveillance (including physical examination)
- Verification of submitted documents

Programme Commitments
Successful applicants will be required to:
- Sign an agreement with the Gauteng Department of Health.
- Attend lectures at the assigned campus.
- Participate in Work Integrated Learning (WIL), which includes shifts, weekends, nights, and public holidays in Gauteng Department of Health hospitals and clinics.
