About the Apprenticeship Programme

Gijima Middelburg Training Centre, a MERSETA-accredited occupational training and trade test centre, offers a skills development opportunity for individuals looking to become qualified artisans in the following trades:

  • Mechanical Fitter
  • Electrician

The programme aims to equip learners with hands-on technical and theoretical training required to launch a successful career in engineering trades.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess the following:

  • N2 Engineering Certificate with four relevant subjects (including trade theory).

For Mechanical Fitter applicants:

  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • Technical Drawings
  • Fitting Theory

For Electrician applicants:

  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • Industrial Electronics
  • Electrical Trade Theory

Additional requirements:

  • Technical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must reside in Mpumalanga or Limpopo Province
  • Must pass:
    • Interview
    • Medical fitness assessment
    • Qualification verification

  • Certified copy of your highest qualification (e.g. N2 Certificate)
  • Proof of residence (Mpumalanga or Limpopo only)
  • Clearly indicate the trade you are applying for
