GrandWest Bursaries 2026

GrandWest invites South African students residing in the Western Cape to apply for the GrandWest Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.

Fields of Study Funded

The GrandWest Bursary supports full-time undergraduate studies in the following fields:

  • Agriculture
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology
  • Marketing
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Tourism and Hospitality

Postgraduate and part-time studies will not be funded.


Bursary Coverage

The bursary provides funding for the following expenses:

  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees
  • R5 000 allowance for textbooks

Please note:

  • Accommodation, stationery and other living expenses are not covered
  • Outstanding student debt from previous years will not be funded
  • Funding applies to the current academic year only
  • Students must reapply each year, subject to satisfactory academic performance

Bursaries do not need to be repaid, however students are encouraged to participate in community-based projects and submit reports on their volunteering activities.


Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be under the age of 27
  • Reside within the Western Cape Province
  • Have completed Matric in South Africa
  • Be studying or registered to study full-time towards an undergraduate qualification
  • Be studying towards a first tertiary qualification
  • Be registered at one of the following public institutions:
    • University of Cape Town (UCT)
    • University of the Western Cape (UWC)
    • Stellenbosch University (SU)
    • Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
  • Not be carrying subjects from the previous academic year
  • Have a strong academic record
  • Not be employed full-time
  • Students with disabilities or impairments are encouraged to apply

Required Supporting Documents

Applicants must submit clear certified copies of the following documents (applications with missing documents may be disqualified):

  • South African ID document (certified, not older than 3 months)
  • Matric certificate (certified)
  • Proof of registration at one of the listed institutions (on institutional letterhead)
  • Full academic record (if currently studying)
  • Letter of acceptance (if applicable)
  • Full fee statement or detailed quote from institution
  • Course overview (on institutional letterhead)
  • Parents’ or guardians’ proof of income:
    • Latest payslip (if employed), or
    • Affidavit (if unemployed, disabled, sick or elderly)
  • Details of any other bursaries or financial assistance received
