About the Joburg City Theatres Internship Programme
Joburg City Theatres (JCT) is offering internship opportunities to unemployed youth within Johannesburg communities. The internship programme aims to provide practical workplace exposure to students and graduates who require experiential learning as part of their qualifications or career development.
The programme will run for a period not exceeding 24 months.
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Reside within Johannesburg communities
- Never have participated in an internship programme before, unless it was unrelated to their qualification

Youth Development Internship – Joburg Theatre
Department: Client Services
Location: Joburg Theatre, Braamfontein

Monthly Stipend: R6 094.25
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
- Diploma in Performing Arts, Dramatic Arts, or equivalent qualification
- Computer literacy in MS Office Applications and email
Key Responsibilities
Successful interns will:
- Assist in planning and coordinating youth empowerment programmes
- Support arts education projects and workshops
- Assist with community outreach programmes
- Support participant registration and attendance tracking
- Assist with rehearsals, workshops, and performances
- Support programme administration and record keeping
- Assist with social media content creation and campaign management
- Support monitoring and evaluation activities
Youth Development Internship – Soweto Theatre
Department: Client Services
Location: Soweto Theatre, Jabulani

Monthly Stipend: R6 094.25

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
- Diploma in Performing Arts, Dramatic Arts, or equivalent qualification
- Computer literacy in MS Office Applications and email
Key Responsibilities
Successful interns will:
- Liaise with schools and community arts centres
- Assist with planning youth development programmes
- Compile facilitator reports
- Monitor attendance registers and supporting documents
- Conduct inventory checks for costumes and instruments
- Provide arts administration support
- Gain practical experience in programme coordination and stakeholder engagement
